VISITING SUPERIOR

If it's your first time in Superior or you are a regular visitor, there's always something to see and do! Along with our gorgeous semi-arid Sonoran desert and mountainous areas, there are plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities for every skill level. Take a leisurely stroll through the Arizona Trail, or tackle the face of our craggy mountains.

Not the adventurous type? That's ok ... Superior can offer some other great opportunities that highlight our rich culture and history.

Cooperatively managed by the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Arizona State Parks, this venerable 320-acre "Arizona oasis" has more than two miles of paths and trails winding through colorful gardens, woodlands and along native riparian habitat. Founded in 1925 and dedicated to instilling in people an appreciation for desert plants, the Arboretum is three miles west of the historic copper-mining town of Superior.

Hiking, Climbing Opportunities

Looking for a good hiking expedition? Look no further than Superior! Climb Apache Leap and visit Superior's landmark cross and "S" Hill on the east side. Take a trip to the eastern side of town and tackle Picket Post Mountain. Looking for more of a challenge? Venture just east of Town and climb the face of our volcanic and granite rock formations along US 60. These formations, carved by Queen Creek will provide a healthy workout for the novice or expert rock climbers.
